Bredesen Not Serious About Meeting with President Trump, Tennessee GOP Leader Says

Phil Bredesen can fly his $10 million jet to New York to wine and dine with billionaire gun-control advocate Michael Bloomberg but apparently cannot make the slightly shorter trip to Washington, D.C. to meet with President Donald Trump.

So, Bredesen has issued an invitation to the president to visit him next time he travels to Tennessee to campaign for Bredesen’s rival, U.S. Representative Marsha Blackburn (R-TN-07), whom Trump has endorsed. The president attended an Oct. 1 rally to support Blackburn in her run for the U.S. Senate. He also attended a May rally for her.

Bredesen on Tuesday tweeted “I’d like to extend an invitation to President Trump — if he comes back to TN to campaign for my opponent— to discuss how we can establish a business relationship with pharma. It’s time for us to put our business hats on and work together to do what’s best for Tennessee.”

One problem is that the president has not announced any visits to Tennessee in the immediate future.

After Bredesen claimed he wanted to meet with President Trump, Tennessee Republican Party Chairman Scott Golden said:

“Trump was very explicit: Democrat Phil Bredesen will ‘100 percent’ vote against the President and the Republican agenda ‘every single time.’ This is just another political stunt from Phony Phil Bredesen, since his top spokesman called President Trump a ‘f—ing moron,’ ‘f—stik,’ and ‘an insane f—,’ and he called all of the President’s supporters – over 1.5 million Tennesseans –  ‘idiots.’ Phil gave $33,400 to Hillary Clinton in the hopes she would defeat Donald Trump. Phil Bredesen has received millions in help from Chuck Schumer and national Democrats who want to obstruct President Trump at every turn. He’s accepted thousands of dollars from Kamala Harris, Cory Booker, and Michael Bloomberg, all of whom are planning to run against President Trump in 2020. Tennesseans want someone who will work with the President to implement his agenda, and they know Republican Marsha Blackburn is the only candidate who will do that.”

Tennessee Star Political Editor Steve Gill notes that as the Bredesen campaign is reeling from the Project Veritas video disclosing that his own staffers don’t believe his claim that he would have supported Judge Brett Kavanaugh’s confirmation, his links to Bloomberg couldn’t come at a worse time.  (Those staffers continue to be employed with funds supplied to the Tennessee Democratic Party by the Chuck Schumer Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee.)

Yes, Every Kid

As the ex-governor’s recent tweet shows, perhaps he should not post on Twitter himself as he recently drew scorn for twisting a Taylor Swift song title on social media to attack Blackburn after Swift endorsed him.

Bredesen tweeted, “.@VoteMarsha, look what you made her do. @taylorswift13 doesn’t like your little games and she wants Tennesseans to know that you’ve been in the swamp long enough. It’s time for some fresh air up in Washington.”

Twitchy, a conservative Twitter curation and news website, compiled a list of social media users flaming Bredesen for his attempt to be hip. The website itself didn’t hold back, saying Bredesen may have erased any help Swift gave him.
